An Op-ed piece authored by ESSIC / AOSC Professor Raghu Murtugudde was published in the India edition of the Huffington Post. In the piece, Murtugudde suggests the country should avoid being bogged down by potential international  implementation issues that complicate the Paris agreement and instead look inward to steer its own course on climate.  Murtugudde states that "a climate-resilient and weather-ready India is a strong India."…

A NASA Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences 2016 (ROSES-2016) Ocean Surface Topography Science Team (OSTST) proposal submitted by ESSIC Visiting Assistant Research Scientist Alejandro Egido was selected for funding by NASA reviewers.  Egido’s proposal, which was 1 of the 26 proposals awarded, will be funded through NOAA….

The Cooperative Institute for Climate and Satellites (CICS) held its first collaborative Science Conference from November 29, 2016 – December, 1, 2016.  The three day event hosted by the University of Maryland (UMD) Earth System Sciences Interdisciplinary Center (ESSIC) evolved from and replaced the former CICS-Maryland annual science meeting.

The conference included representation from principal partners CICS-Maryland and CICS-North Carolina as well as CUNY’s Cooperative Remote Sensing
