ESSIC / AOSC Professor Raghu Murtugudde was a co-author on a recently published study in Geophysical Research Letters, which analyzed the impact of eastern equatorial Pacific sea surface cooling on Galápagos Penguin populations. The study’s lead-author, Dr. Kris Karnauskas, was formerly advised by ESSIC Director Professor Antonino Busalacchi, while a PhD student at UMD’s Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (AOSC). ESSIC/CICS-MD visiting Associate Research Scientist Chris Brown, was also a co-author.
