About the position:
We are seeking an aerosol scientist at the Assistant Research Scientist level to advance atmospheric aerosol research using ground-based and satellite measurement techniques. Develop and refine retrieval algorithms for aerosol properties, conduct research on aerosol distribution and behavior, and analyze multi-source environmental data to enhance understanding of aerosol impacts.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsibilities include designing robust data processing algorithms, instrumentation installation, calibration, collaborating with global aerosol community, presenting at meetings and conferences, publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals, contributing to grant proposals, and innovating methods for aerosol measurement and analysis
Qualifications
• U.S. Citizenship or Green Card holder only due to restrictions at Government facilities
• Ph.D. in atmospheric science, earth sciences, physics, or a closely related discipline, awarded within the past 3-5 years
• Proven expertise in aerosol science, including experience of using ground and satellite aerosol data
• Experience in handling aerosol instrumentation, familiar with calibration techniques is highly desirable
• Strong programming proficiency and analytical skills, with the ability to design robust algorithms for new data sets
• Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, represent at meetings and conferences, publish research findings, and contribute to grant proposals
Experience with aerosols remote sensing, ground-based instrumentation, machine learning algorithms and computer programming is highly desirable.
