Population and Climate Change: Thanks to my friend Agustín!

Inspiration comes from the strangest of places. About a year ago, I was talking with my good friend Agustín at a party -yes, this is the kind of conversation I get distracted with when I socialize! He was telling me he “was not yet convinced” about the impact of humans on climate change. “I think it’s all natural”, he said repeatedly while we sipped a little wine. This is the same guy that just a few years back was saying he was “not convinced” that climate change was real. Yes, I know what

What is Indian Summer?

After weeks of hot summer weather, the early days of fall historically promise a cool breeze and a decrease in temperature. The word “Indian Summer” is often loosely applied to any generic period of warmer temperatures during the months of autumn, but often outside of the true or intended historical definition of the term. ESSIC …

ESSIC weathers the Federal Shutdown

On the first day of October 2013, the U.S. federal government suspended a large percentage of its operations for the first time in 17 years.
