NOAA Coral Reef Watch Analysis Featured in UNESCO Report

ESSIC / CICS-MD faculty specialist at NOAA Coral Reef Watch (CRW) Erick Geiger co-authored a UNESCO update report assessing the historical, recent, and projected heat stress and bleaching at natural World Heritage properties with coral reefs.  CRW team member Dr. Scott Heron, an ESSIC / CICS-MD sub awardee, led the effort and the publication. B. Li recognized with NASA/GSFC 2018 Scientific Achievement Award

ESSIC assistant research scientist Bailing Li is a recipient of the NASA/GSFC 2018 Hydrosphere, Biosphere, and Geophysics (HBG) Annual Peer Awards Scientific Achievement Award. Gassó honored at Huinca Renancó Middle School in Argentina

The Huinca Renancó Middle School in Córdoba, Argentina recognized ESSIC associate research scientist Santiago Gassó during the school’s recent Science Week. Part of the week’s activities included naming school classrooms after prominent Argentine scientists and Gassó was among the researchers chosen. Murtugudde published in Hindu Business Line

ESSIC / AOSC Professor Raghu Murtugudde recently wrote an article published in Hindu Business Line titled “How air pollution is adding to India’s diabetes burden”. The article discusses a recent study that found a link between diabetes and PM2.5, atmospheric particulate matter (PM) with a diameter less than 2.5 micrometers.  Diabetes risk increased significantly beyond 10 micrograms per cubic meter of air and plateaued at 22 micrograms.  The measured air quality in Delhi and Kanpur …
