University of Maryland Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center Director, Professor Antonio Busalacchi, testified Tuesday morning in a House of Representatives subcommittee hearing on opportunities for public-private partnerships in Earth observation.

As a former NASA scientist and chief of the Laboratory for Hydrospheric Processes at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, Busalacchi was the source selection official for the Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS). Orbital Sciences

Registration is now open for the 4th Annual CICS-MD Science Meeting. It will be held on Monday, November 23, and Tuesday. November 24. The meeting will be in the ESSIC Large Conference Room, across from NCWCP in College Park, MD. We encourage all CICS-MD scientists to submit an abstract for a talk or a poster. CREST graduate student and former CICS-MD intern Equisha Glenn has published an article on her PhD research in an upcoming issue in Geophysical Research Letters (GRL). The article documents a sea surface temperature warming trends in the Caribbean region over the last 30 years. The National Science Foundation (NSF) has launched a new resource management research program, Innovations at the Nexus of Food, Energy and Water Systems (INFEWS), and the University of Maryland’s Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center (ESSIC) hopes to be part of the push.
