ESSIC Associate Research Scientist Bo-Wen Shen recently published two first-author Hurricane Sandy articles in the IEEE Committee on Earth Observation (ICEO) publication, Earthzine. The first article discusses the performance of a developed parallel version of the ensemble empirical model decomposition (PEEMD) method with a three-level parallelism. The article is entitled, “Analyzing Tropical Waves using the Parallel Ensemble Empirical Model Decomposition Method: Preliminary Results from Hurricane Sandy.“
The second article presents 10 track predictions of Hurricane Sandy, illustrating Sandy’s northwestward turn prior to landfall. The article is entitled, “Simulations and Visualizations of Hurricane Sandy (2012) as Revealed by the NASA CAMVis.“
