Abstract
As observation, modeling and forecasting of earth system processes has advanced, there has been a parallel increase in prioritizing delivering this information to different stakeholder and user groups to support policy decisions, evolution of regulations and daily operations at regional to community levels. Coupled with the expansion of the Internet of Things, advanced computer processing of language and information and changing environmental conditions, working with stakeholders has never been more important. This seminar will focus on developing stakeholder networks, working with stakeholders, and lessons learned from working with stakeholders.

Michael Maddox endeavors to create climate-informed decision-support tools. His work focuses on integrating observational, modeled and forecasted data to co-produce decision support tools. His work involves working with agriculture producers and advisors, federal partners at the National Weather Service, and emergency managers and local zoning and planning officials. He is a member of the Chesapeake Bay Programs adaptation workgroup which “focuses on building technical capacity to identify and implement on-the-ground nature-based solutions in tidal and nontidal portions of sub watershed areas”. He is currently working on the Information Development System for the Dashboard for Agricultural Water Use and Nutrient Management (DAWN) and is also the Project Manager of the Maryland Hydronet and Outreach Coordinator for the Climate Resilience Network. His past work includes developing a storm-inundation algorithm for the Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System (CYGNSS) program, contributions to the National Climate Assessment Land Data Assimilation System (NCA-LDAS), and the development of climate-risk tools for supply-chain networks in the United States and China.
