ESSIC Professor and interim director Fernando Miralles-Wilhelm is the co-author of a new study published in a special edition of the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) journal Aqua-LAC, dedicated to water and environmental issues in Haiti. Titled “Advanced hydraulic and water quality modeling to assesses flood and pollution impacts: A case study of the Caracol Industrial Park in Haiti,” the work accesses flood risks at the Caracol Industrial Park and further evaluates the establishment of watershed management program on the Trou-du-Nord river downstream of the park. The special edition journal included an editorial introduction by current President of Haiti, Jovenel Moise.
