A new study by ESSIC researcher Arianna Sutton-Grier was accepted for publication by Frontiers in Ecology and Environment. Sutton-Grier and her coauthors discuss the role of coastal and marine systems in mitigating climate change, specifically the recommendation that current efforts focus primarily on coastal wetlands, as they represent long-term carbon sinks, potential carbon sources upon conversion, and can be managed for their carbon sequestration value.
