ESSIC Visiting Research Scientist and CICS-MD researcher Zhankun Wang co-authored a paper that has been accepted by the Journal of Geophysical Research (JGR). The paper is titled “Asymmetric oceanic response to a hurricane: Deepwater observations during hurricane Isaac.” Through an analysis of sub-inertial bands, the paper reveals that “spatial and temporal scales are shorter and less persistent than the near-inertial variance.” According to the research, these scales of response lead to ramifications dealing with the “fate, transport, and distribution of hydrocarbons following a deep water [oil] spill event.”
