ESSIC Hosts NOAA NCAS Meeting

ESSIC hosted faculty, scientists, and students from each academic institutional partner of the NOAA Center for Atmospheric Sciences (NCAS), April 25-27. AOSC Sophomore selected as NOAA Hollings Scholar

Abigail Ahlert (sophomore, AOSC) has been selected as a 2013 Hollings Scholar by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Ahlert has been an active leader and participant in extracurricular activities at UMD. She is a co-founder and president of the American Meteorological Society student chapter at UMD, a writer for the Scientific Terrapin, and a member of the Student Judiciary Board….

Murtugudde presents back-to-back talks on ENSO

ESSIC / AOSC Professor, Raghu Murtugudde, presented a talk on the El Niño/La Niña–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) on two successive days. NASA’s IceBridge Finishing Up Successful Arctic Campaign

Baltimore Sun Article on Climate-Dust features recently published H.Yu-led study

The Baltimore Sun published a health-related feature in April 2013, which highlighted the results of a recently published study led by ESSIC Associate Research Scientist, Hongbin Yu. The paper, authored by Yu and a team of NASA, UMBC, and UMCP scientists was published by Science Magazine in August 2012. Tzortziou to speak at NASA’s GEO-CAPE Science Team Meeting
