ESSIC Director Dr. Antonio Busalacchi gave a keynote lecture entitled “The Oceans Role in the Coupled Climate System: Challenges and Opportunities for the Future” at the University of Sao Paulo Conference About The Sea.
The conference, which was held May 16-18, featured featured sessions on marine biodiversity, deep-sea exploration and the relationship between oceans and the climate.
According to the USP website, the speakers were composed of scientists and graduate students from various fields of knowledge who focused their researchers on marine sciences, technology and innovation of society and are active in social and financial aspects of the oceans.
Busalacchi was joined in the ocean and climate session by Dr. William Curry of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Dr. Paul Falkowski of Rutgers University and Dr. Joaquim Goes of Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory.
