Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay Alumni Association recently named ESSIC/ AOSC Professor Raghu Murtugudde as a contributor to its award winning in-house magazine, Fundamatics.
The In-house Communication Excellence Awards (ICE Awards), created by the Shailaja Nair Foundation of Mumbai, India, awarded Fundamatics three excellence awards in the 2013 competition, including Best Magazine Among Educational Institutes, Most Imperative Content and Best Overall Magazine-Gold. Fundamatics took home all three of the awards it was nominated for, competing against international organizations from a pool of 39 other nominees for the 2013 year, according to the ICE awards’ website.
The ICE awards, which partner with ZEE business and UTV Bloomberg, focus on giving recognition to in-house magazines that demonstrate superior ability in connecting together employers, employees and their families. The awards target magazines that show dedication and creativity in their publication, according to the Shailaja Nair Foundation’s website.
Fundamatics, which started in Dec. 2011, published Murtugudde’s article, “Climate Change Needs an Elephant Whisperer,” in its second volume. The article argued there’s a need for people to create a united strategy in tackling the issues of global warming head on. Fundamatics cited Murtugudde, who has a doctorate of philosophy in mechanical engineering from Columbia University, a master of science in aerospace engineering from the University of Texas, Arlington, and a bachelor of science in aerospace engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, as one of the key elements that contributed to its wins.
According to its website, in 2012 ICE’s awards panel made its selection from a pool of about 700 international in-house magazines. In 2013 the number of competitors was closer to 900, including many publications from prestigious airlines, banks, corporations and institutes, according to Murtugudde.
According to its website, ICE hopes the awards will help to inspire growth in quality and scale among in-house magazines internationally.
