ESSIC Director Professor Antonino Busalacchi was recently quoted in a Baltimore Sun story on the evolving 2015 El Nino event. The article premise discussed what opportunities the event provided to climate scientists for enhanced understanding of its lower-level impacts to the planet and how satellites would be used to monitor its evolution. Busalacchi agreed that scientists now have better observations tool at hand, but those tools alone wouldn't necessarily improve future El Nino predication. Busalacchi was recently named co-chair of a National Research Council panel that will set priorities for future earth-science-focused space missions.
