ESSIC end of year awards for 2013

As part of ESSIC’s end-of-year holiday party, the Center continued the annual tradition of recognizing the accomplishments of it’s own faculty and staff, with two peer-based award for “Best Scientific Research Paper” and “Staff Employee of the Year.” The award for best paper was split between Research Associate Viviana Maggioni and Associate Research Scientist Hongbin Yu. Tzortziou plays multifaceted role in preparation for NASA’s GEO-CAPE mission

Two years ago, ESSIC research associate professor Maria Tzortziou spent two weeks on a ship in the Chesapeake Bay, conducting research as part of a NASA scientific field campaign that would set the foundation for a future NASA satellite mission to study coastal ecosystem processes from geostationary satellites. Farquhar to receive EAG 2014 Science Innovation Award

ESSIC / GEOL Professor James Farquhar will receive the 2014 Science Innovation Award from the European Association of Geochemistry. The award, which in 2014 is named after Samuel Epstein, is bestowed upon scientists who have recently made a particularly important and innovative breakthrough in geochemistry. Shen published in AMS Journal of the Atmospheric Sciences

ESSIC Associate Research Scientist Bo-Wen Shen was published in an early online version of the AMS Journal of Atmospheric Sciences.
