Murtuddge published in latest issue of Fundamatics

ESSIC/AOSC Professor Raghu Murtugudde was featured in the recent issue of Fundamatics, the Indian Institute of Bombay’s publication. Yu’s 2012 study cited in Wired magazine article

Wired Magazine interviewed ESSIC Associate Research Scientist, Dr. Hongbin Yu, for an article published this month. The piece, “What’s Flying Above Your Head?  Far More Than You Think,” cites information from the Yu-led study and subsquent paper that was in 2012. The article discusses the types of things that are floating in the air at various altitudes. Shen Paper published in Geophysical Research Letters Journal

The Geophysical Research Letters Journal published a paper by ESSIC Associate Research Scientist, Dr. Bo-Wen Shen. The paper entitled, “Genesis of hurricane sandy (2012) simulated with a global mesoscale model” was published in full online on Sept. 19. The paper details the formation predictability of 2012’s Hurricane Sandy, through various forecasts leading up to its landfall. The paper can be viewed in its entirety here.

ESSIC’s Busalacchi caught Between the Columns

ESSIC hosts NAS-BASC two-day workshop

ESSIC hosted a National Academy of Science’s Board on Atmospheric Sciences and Climate (BASC) workshop on sea ice loss and weather patterns this month. The 2-day event entitled “Linkages between Arctic Sea Ice Loss and Mid-Latitude Weather Patterns,” focused on bringing together experts in the field to discuss the issue of rising global temperatures and sea ice loss and how the effects correlate to changing weather patterns across the densely populated region of the northern mid-latitudes. …
