ESSIC Scientists Abheera Hazra and Kimberly Slinski are co-authors on a new paper in Journal of Hydrology that describes the improvements in seasonal hydrologic forecasts produced with the updated FEWS NET Land Data Assimilation System.

Dorothy Hall is first author on a paper recently published in American Geophysical Union’s (AGU) open access journal Earth and Space Science about the increasing desiccation of lakes in the United State’s Great Basin.

Jing Wei has been appointed an Associate Editor for the journal JGR: Atmospheres of the American Geophysical Union (AGU). As an Associate Editor, Wei will maintain and improve the quality of the journal, facilitate a timely review process, and assist the editor to solicit important and thought-provoking articles. JGR: Atmospheres (IF = 5.22) publishes original research articles that advance and improve the understanding of atmospheric properties and processes, including the interaction of the atmosphere with other components of the Earth system, as well as their roles in climate variability and change.

ESSIC/AOSC Professor Raghu Murtugudde is a co-author on a new article in Scientific Reports titled “Soil–vegetation moisture capacitor maintains dry season vegetation productivity over India”.

ESSIC/CISESS Scientist C. Max Stevens is co-author on a new paper in Nature that reveals summer and winter temperature changes through the last 11,000 years, a period known as the Holocene.

ESSIC/CISESS scientist Alexey Mishonov is co-author on a new paper in Advances in Atmospheric Sciences titled “Another Year of Record Heat for the Oceans”.

Several current and former ESSIC/CISESS scientists are co-authors on a new paper in Journal of Hydrometeorology titled “Evaluation of Snowfall Retrieval Performance of GPM Constellation Radiometers Relative to Spaceborne Radars”. Former ESSIC scientist Yalei You was first author on the paper. Current ESSIC/CISESS scientists on the paper are Veljko Petkovic, Lisa Milani, John Yang, and Guojun Gu.
