The Geophysical Research Letters Journal published a paper by ESSIC Associate Research Scientist, Dr. Bo-Wen Shen. The paper entitled, “Genesis of hurricane sandy (2012) simulated with a global mesoscale model” was published in full online on Sept. 19. The paper details the formation predictability of 2012’s Hurricane Sandy, through various forecasts leading up to its landfall.
