With Maryland Day approaching, organizers at the Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center (ESSIC) are readying an arsenal of family-friendly activities to introduce the public to ESSIC and answer any scientific questions they might have. Chen wins best paper award

ESSIC Assistant Research Scientist Yong Chen, was recognized with the best proceeding paper award during the 20th International TOVS Study Conferences.  His paper entitled,"CrIS Full Resolution Processing and Validation System for JPSS," was co-authored by Yong Han , Denis Tremblay , Likun Wang , Xin Jin, and Fuzhong Weng. Dr. Jingfeng Huang

Dr. Jingfeng Huang is an Assistant Research Scientist at CMNS-Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center. He graduated from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 2000 with his Bachelor of Environmental Science and Engineering and a second Bachelor of Enterprise Management. Dr. Xiaolei Zou

With over 115 published papers and nearly 20 years of teaching experience under her belt, Dr. Xiaolei Zou left a tenured teaching position at Florida State University (FSU) to join ESSIC.

Zou first worked for FSU in 1989, where she helped the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) on developing a 4D-Var data assimilation system, a model that more precisely predicts forecasts.

She later joined the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) to develop a 4D-Var system
